I’m a web Junkie so of course i run into alot of sites that i just love. So i decided to make a nifty little page with a whole bunch of ‘em on it.
There are three catagories: Software, Podcasts, and Services. Each of them will have a little explanation of what each of them are as well as even shorter descriptions of what each links contain. So here we go…
Software
This is a list of all the software I would install on you machine if you were away at you grandma’s house and forgot to close your house window. All of these software are free.
- Mozilla Firefox:
Firefox is one of the most Secure, Expandable, and Skinnable browers you will ever use. It Pwns. - Mozilla Thunderbird:
The email version of Firefox. - Open Office:
Open Office is an open source office suite. I wont say i prefer it over MS Office, but take into account that I’ve used MS office all my life. - Nvu:
I use this when I make websites without a CMS like Wordpress or Mambo. Its a great rival to FrontPage and uses clean html with no frontpage extentions reliant code. - mIRC:
mIRC is a powerful, easy to use IRC chat client. Its free and fully functional forever as long as you dont mind seeing the developers face everytime you run it.
Podcasts
A Podcast is basically an MP3 referenced to by an RSS feed. If you are reading this and your name is Leo Laporte, sorry Leo, but its called Podcast. I dont think netcast will catch on. But if it makes you feel better, i will say this; YOU DO NOT NEED A IPOD TO LISTEN TO PODCASTS.
- TWiT Netcast Network
“Doin the twit (allright), Doin the Twit…Baby…” God that song is addictive. Twit.tv is a great podcast network for folks who dig technology. I get every Download every ep they put out. its awesome. - Geeknights with Rym and Scott
For geeks like me, this is a great podcast. Its put out Monday-Thursday with different topics each day. My favorite days are Monday and Thursday. I wish they’d make a “Zombies: Part 3″ Episode.
